The Luxtron 712 is a fluoroptic thermometer controller designed for highly accurate temperature measurement in challenging environments where conventional temperature measurement methods (such as thermocouples) would fail.

This instrument utilizes fiber-optic technology. The probe contains a small phosphor sensor at the point. When excited light is sent through the fiber, the sensor emits light back. The decay time of this emitted light is directly related to the temperature, which is then measured and displayed by the 712 controller unit.
